Hip No. 107, a lovely Graeme Hall filly from the consignment of Eddie Woods, was the sale topper at the annual OBS February Select Sale for 2-year-olds on Feb. 17th, selling for $340,000 to agent Buzz Chace and Terry Finley’s West Point Thoroughbreds.
Out of the Judge T C mare Vines of Justice, the flashy chestnut filly worked an eight of a mile in 10 seconds flat during the under tack show a few days prior to the sale.
“One of my clients really loved her; he called her the ‘belle of the ball,’ ” said Finley. “I believe she’ll go to the Northeast (to race). She’s a really, really beautiful physical specimen, and she has a great mind.”
“She traveled very well on the racetrack,” added Chace. “She had a smooth, nice way of going.”
Woods consigned the Florida-bred filly for Joe and Winifred Greeley’s Sabine Stable, which purchased her for $155,000 at the 2008 Keeneland September yearling sale.
“She’s beautiful, very elegant, and very racy looking,” Woods said. “We were delighted with the price.”
Woods also sold the third highest priced filly, a daughter from the first crop of Forest Danger, as Hip No. 190 for $240,000. Patrice Miller, EQB Inc., purchased the filly as agent.
