Never Retreat collared pacesetting Wasted Tears and edged away in deep stretch to win the grassy one-mile, $350,000 First Lady S. Oct. 8 at Keeneland by 1 1/2 lengths in stakes-record time of 1:34.08 and was slightly off the course record of 1:33.54.

Never Retreat is a graduate of the Eddie Woods training program and is trained by Chris Block for Team Block. Out of the Steady Growth mare Lisieux, Never Retreat was bred in Kentucky by Gerry O'Meara and Stanley Inman.

Never Retreat, coming off a half-length victory in the Canadian Stakes (G2) at Woodbine Sept. 18, earned her fifth win in 10 starts in 2011. She previously won the Dance Smartly (G2), Jenny Wiley (G2), and Honey Fox (G3), all on the turf, this year.

The veteran campaigner has won five graded stakes in her career, amassing $1,268,769 and a record of 11-7-6 from 31 starts.
