Sale Grads Keep Making Top Grades
RSS Feeds Monday, August 09, 2010
Led by four Graded stakes horses of the past 12 days, Eddie Woods Sales graduates continue their assault on the nation’s top stakes races this season.

Concord Point started the big weekend, with his gate to wire win in the $750,000 West Virginia Derby on August 7. Making just his second career start over traditional dirt, Concord Point was challenged throughout, but answered every call, and drew clear near the wire. He attained a 107 Beyer Speed Figure for this effort, second best among all 3-year-olds this year beyond a mile, and faster than Lookin At Lucky (105), Trappe Shot (105), Super Saver (104), etc. We purchased Concord Point from the 2008 Keeneland September Sale for $220,000, and the gray son of Tapit has now earned $669,260 for owner Kaleem Shah. Trained by Bob Baffert and ridden to victory on Saturday by Martin Garcia, Concord Point has a record of 6-4-1-0.

One day later at Saratoga, Secret Gypsy scored a two-length victory in the $150,000 Honorable Miss S. (G2). This was the fourth stakes win, first Graded win for the chestnut mare, whom we sold at the 2007 Fasig-Tipton Midlantic May Sale. Racing for Richland Hills Stable and John Kuehl, the Ronny Werner trainee has amassed earnings of $506,926, with a record of 16-7-2-2.

Also at Saratoga, stakes winner Belle of the Hall ran third in the $250,000 Test S. (G1) on August 7th, and Exclusive Love ran second in the $150,000 Lake George S. (G2) on July 28th.

Eddie Woods’ two-year-olds in training consignments have now produced 18 stakes horses, 10 stakes winners this year. Our six Graded stakes winners are more than any other juvenile consignor has produced in 2010.
