Woods' sales grad Weemissfrankie moved to the head of this year's 2-year-old filly division following her emphatic victory in the $250,000 Del Mar Debutante (G1) on Sept. 3 (

Rallying from seventh on the far outside turning into the stretch, Weemissfrankie quickly gained command under jockey Rafael Bejarano and continued on strongly to win by 1 1/4 lengths in 1:23.20 for the seven furlongs.
“I knew I was on the best horse and I rode that way," Bejarano said. "She felt good all the way around. At the three-eighths (pole) I could feel I had a lot of horse under me and I went wide with her. I wasn’t going to go down inside there and let them try to run over me."
“She’s got a lot of class and the mental part about her is so strong,” said winning trainer Peter Eurton, who won the first graded stakes of his career. “Nothing bothers her, at least not yet. We’ll see how it goes. (There are) a lot of things to come and hopefully we can go to where we want to go with her."
Weemissfrankie, a New York-bred daughter of the deceased stallion Sunriver, was purchased for $175,000 from the Woods consignment at the Ocala two-year-olds in-training sale last April by owners Sharon Alesia, the Bran Jam Stable and Ciaglia Racing, LLC.
Weemissfrankie was named for the late Hollywood actor Frank Alesia, who was part of the ownership group with his wife Sharon.
The Debutante win was worth $150,000, and she has now earned $187,800 in her two starts.
