Danon Legend became the 12th Graded stakes winner of 2014 for the Eddie Woods Training and Sales program, with his superb victory in the $581,000 Capella S. (G3) in Japan on December 14th.
With his inaugural stakes win, Danon Legend also became racing's newest millionaire, having attained $1,284,769 in his three on-track seasons.
By Macho Uno out of My Goodness, by Storm Cat, Danon Legend was broken and trained by Eddie Woods, who then sold him for $385,000 at the 2012 Barretts March Two-Year-Olds Sale. The colt was originally purchased for $90,000 at the Keeneland September Sale by W. D. North Thoroughbreds.
In the six-furlong Capella, Danon Legend broke quickly from the inside post, and soon assumed command of the 16-horse field. Asked for his run as they entered the far turn, Danon Legend responded instantly, opening up many lengths in the blink of an eye. The dark bay 4-year-old crossed the wire under his own volition five lengths clear, in a very swift 1:09.50. In his three seasons of racing, Danon Legend has compiled a record of 18-6-3-1 for owner Danox Inc.
