Regal Glory added the $500,000 Jenny Wiley S. (G1) to her long list of graded stakes wins, roaring through the stretch to win the 1 1/16-mile event on the Keeneland turf by a length.

The Eddie Woods training grad, now owned by Peter Brant, was closed to being retired and bred this year, but Brant changed his mind after the chestnut 6-year-old won the Pegasus World Cup Filly & Mare Turf Inv. (G3) very impressively in late January.

"She loves racing so much," Brant said after winning the Jenny Wiley. "She's one of those older mares that just really enjoys training, and is very happy. And we said you know, she's never been any better."

Regal Glory, ridden in the Apr. 16 Jenny Wiley by Jose Ortiz, tracked pacesetter Navratilova through six furlongs in 1:11.85. Navratilova kicked on gamely in the stretch, but Regal Glory had her measured and swiftly took the lead with a furlong to go, finishing up the distance on the “good” turf in 1:40.97, a stakes record and good for a lifetime-best Beyer Speed Figure of 103.

“It was (Mr. Brant’s) call to keep her in training this year,” winning trainer Chad Brown said. “I probably would have bred her, and he said, ‘No, she’s in good form and I want to see her run another year. I have a feeling this is her year,’ and so far, he’s right.”

Regal Glory, who has now won $1,836,009, will likely make her next start in the Just A Game S. (G1) on June 11 at Belmont Park.
