Howl, who was making just her second lifetime start on Saturday, came away with a sharp-looking score in the $100,000 Safely Kept S. at Laurel Park.

The Eddie Woods training grad debuted in eye-catching style last month at Keeneland, winning a six-furlong maiden special weight race by 7 ¾-lengths.

That victory made the LNJ Foxwoods color-bearer the favorite in Saturday’s seven furlong race for 3-year-old fillies. Howl was three-wide, in a stalking spot, through the first half-mile, before commencing her rally. She easily went to the lead turning for home and was a comfortable winner by a length in 1:24.61 on a fast main track.

“We’ll of course talk with [trainer] Brad Cox and his team. They’ve done a wonderful job managing her,” LNJ Foxwood’s Madison Scott said. “If we want to dream, maybe the La Brea (G1, Dec. 26 at Santa Anita Park). We’ll see how she comes out here, talk with Brad, talk with all the owners and go from there.”

Howl has earned $116,575 in her two victories. The dark bay daughter of Practical Joke was bred in Kentucky by Fred Wieting, John McCormick, Bridget Sperl and Castle Park Farm LLC.
