Woods' grad upsets in $400K Oklahoma Derby

Politicallycorrect finished up a big weekend for Eddie Woods' training and sales grads with a come-from-behind victory in the $400,000 Oklahoma Derby at Remington Park on September 30. Woods also prepped third-place finisher Called to Serve for his racing career.

Ridden by Kent Desormeaux, Politicallycorrect came from seventh after a six furlongs, going extremely wide in the stretch to get up by three-quarters of a length in the final strides. Called to Serve also came midpack to be beaten less than a length. The final time for the 1 1/8-mile contest was 1:50.23.

Politicallycorrect, a Kentucky-bred 3-year-old son of Kitten's Joy out of the winning Tale of the Cat mare Exceedexpectations, registered his first stakes win. A Ken and Sarah Ramsey homebred, the winner is now 3-3-2 in 12 starts with earnings of $351,375. He was second in the Grade 3 Ohio Derby and third in the $100,000 Easy Goer S. this summer.
