Cadet Roni proved much the best in the $75,000 Wishing Well S. Sunday at Santa Anita Park, splashing to a 6 ¾-length victory in the 6 ½-furlong contest that was rained off the turf.

Woods consigned the 4-year-old filly to the 2014 Barretts March 2-year-olds in Training sale, where she sold for $105,000 to her current owners Al and Saundra Kirkwood.

Making her first stakes start, Cadet Roni dueled with Yana through the first half-mile, then spurted away to win comfortably over the sloppy going.

Cadet Roni, by Colonel John out of the Tiznow mare Exemption, is now 4-1-2 in 11 starts and has banked $148,840. The dark bay filly was bred in Kentucky by WinStar Farm and hails from the same family as four-time Grade 1 winner and $1.7 million earner Denon.
