Regally-bred Cambier Parc scored a three-quarter length win in the March 2nd Herecomesthebride S. (G3) in her black-type debut for OXO Equine LLC.
The 3-year-old filly, a Eddie Woods training grad, was a $1.25 million purchase by her owner at the 2017 Keeneland September Yearling sale.
The daughter of Medaglia d'Oro broke her maiden by four lengths on the grass on Jan. 2 and was the prohibitive favorite in the 1 1/16-mile Herecomesthebride. She sat just outside of pacesetter Belle Laura until taking over with about a quarter-mile left to run. Confidently handled by Jose Ortiz the rest of the way, the bay filly stopped the timer in 1:42.03 on the firm turf.
“She’s learned a lot with more experience and maturity,” said winning trainer Chad Brown. “She’s a horse that we’ve always liked and she’s been looking better as she’s gotten older. I think once we got her on the grass, we found her niche and I think she has a bright future ahead of her. From here, we may go to the (G1) Belmont Oaks in July. I think she’ll stay a mile and a quarter; how we get there, I’m not sure.”
Cambier Parc is out of Sealy Hill, a three-time Canadian champion who earned $1.7 million. Among her five previous foals are Bessarabian S. (G2) winner Hilaby, and Grade 3 winners Belle Hill and Gale Force.
