Jeranimo spurted away at the top of the stretch then held sway to come away with a 3/4-length victory in the $150,000 Oak Tree Mile Oct. 8 at Santa Anita Park. Jeranimo was consigned and sold by Woods at the Barretts May, 2008 horses of racing age sale for $70,000.

That price has turned out to be quite a bargain as Jeranimo has gone on to a great career, earning $660,400 from a record of 6-4-4 in 22 starts. His other graded stakes victories have come in the Strub S. (G2) and San Gabriel H. (G2), the latter, like the Oak Tree Mile, coming on the Santa Anita turf.

The final time for the Oak Tree Mile was a lively 1:32.61 over firm going, earning the 5-year-old a career best 108 Beyer Speed Figure.

Despite the victory, trainer Michael Pender was non-committal on Breeders' Cup plans. "I’m not going to get involved in that conversation," he said. "We’ll let the horse tell us what to do.”
