Mintd ran down heavily-favored Juliet Foxtrot in the final furlong of the $150,000 Mint Julep S. (G3) on June 12 at Churchill Downs to give the Eddie Woods training grad her first stakes victory.

Mintd came from well off the pace under a well-timed ride by Ricardo Santana Jr. to get the win in the 1 1/16-mile affair for fillies and mares. She was seventh entering the backstretch, then soon began to cut into her deficit. Santana moved her off the fence on the far turn and into the stretch. Juliet Foxtrot looked like a winner in mid-stretch, but Mintd surged past to win by a half-length.

The final time was 1:43.92 on the firm turf.

“It was a tough field on paper with a lot of nice fillies and mares entered,” trainer Brendan Walsh said. “This horse has been very progressive in her development. She ran a great race on Kentucky Oaks Day (allowance win on the grass) and had a beautiful breeze over the turf (at Churchill Downs). I thought we had a good chance against some very nice fillies and Ricardo gave her a fantastic ride.”

The win upped the 5-year-old's record to 4-2-0 in nine starts and earnings to $183,432. She is owned by Bradley Thoroughbreds, Madaket Stables LLC, Team Hanley and Tim Cambron.
