Eddie Woods training grad Mucho Unusual is now two-for-two at the Santa Anita winter meet following her Jan. 18 victory in the Megahertz S. (G3).

The 5-year-old kicked off the meet on Dec. 27 with a win in the Robert J. Frankel S. (G3). Owned by her breeder George Krikorian, she is now 7-3-4 in 19 starts and has earned $822,715. Prior stakes wins include the Rodeo Drive S. (G1), San Clemente S. (G2) and the California Cup Oaks.

In the one-mile Megahertz, which featured just a field of four, Mucho Unusual and Brooke (CHI), to her inside broke as a team to take the lead in the first furlong. Joel Rosario, on Mucho Unusual, eased his mount back and tracked Brooke closely through the first five furlongs. The two came on even terms again at the top of the stretch, and despite Brooke drifting out, Mucho Unusual went to the front and outran Sedamar to the wire to win by a length.

“She's super honest, we're excited to have her in the stable, (It's been) just a great ride,” said winning trainer Tim Yakteen. “We were thinking about keeping her at a mile and one eighth, mile and a quarter, unfortunately, there really wasn't anything coming up until the end of March, so we thought we would take advantage of a lighter field.”
