Two years after Eddie Woods celebrated Big Brown's Kentucky Derby (G1) victory, he is looking for a repeat when Line of David and Make Music for Me go postward in the May 1 Run for the Roses. Woods sold Big Brown for $190,000 at the 2007 Keeneland 2-year-old in training sale.

In this year's Derby, Woods has twice the chance he did in 2008, even if his rooting interests aren't the overwhelming favorite as was Big Brown.

Woods consigned Line of David, a son of 2004 Derby runner-up Lion Heart, to the 2009 OBS March select sale of 2-year-olds in training for a long-time clients Joe and Winifred Greeley, who also bred the colt. Line of David was an RNA for $150,000, but were purchased in a private transaction soon afterwards.

Line of David was a game winner of the $1 million Arkansas Derby (G1) in his final Derby prep. The victory was the third consective win following a pair of scores over the Santa Anita turf course.

Ike and Dawn Thrash own the John Sadler-trained colt, who will break from post position five. He will be ridden by Rafael Bejarano.

Woods other Derby interest is Make Music for Me, who was on the outside looking in at the Derby field due to the size limit of 20 starters deteremined by earnings in graded stakes. When two horses pulled out in the 24 hours prior to the post position draw, Make Music for Me climbed the ladder enough to get into the gate.

Make Music for Me was consigned by Woods to the 2009 Barretts 2-year-olds in training sale, where he was purchased for $95,000 by his current owner Peter Johnson.  The bay colt is out of the stakes-winning mare Miss Cheers.

2009 was a tough-luck year for the son of Bernstein. In three races against Lookin At Lucky, the morning line favorite for the Derby, he was beaten a total of three lengths. Alexis Barba, who is trying to become the first female trainer to win the Derby, put her colt on the grass for the Pasadena S. in his 2010 debut, which he won by a length. He didn't fare as well in a start over the Keeneland Polytrack in the Blue Grass (G1), but he has trained forwardly at Chuchill.

Make Music for Me drew post position 9 at the draw, and will be ridden by Joel Rosario.
