Eddie Woods training grad Point of Honor took the featured Black Eyed Susan S. (G2) Friday afternoon at Pimlico.

In the 1 1/8-mile Black Eyed Susan, Point of Honor broke from post seven and was in the three-path for the entire trip. She sat well off the pace until about three furlongs to run, when Javier Castellano guided her past horses and to the lead in upper stretch. Pacesetter Cookie Dough was very game, and Ulele gave chase in the final sixteenth, but Point of Honor was pulling away slightly at the end to win by a half-length.

“She's a filly that likes to be in a high cruising speed, be in a rhythm and we were okay with her being outside today,” said Eclipse Thoroughbreds' Aron Wellman. “She's a big filly with a long stride and we didn't want to disrupt her rhythm. So when I saw :23 and change and saw :47 and Javier had a good hold on her on the outside in the clear, I was pretty confident.”

Point of Honor, who won the Suncoast S. at Tampa Bay Downs in February, got her first graded win in the Black Eyed Susan. Her overall record stands at 3-0-0 in four starts with earnings of $246,375 for Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners and Stetson Racing LLC.
